Good people of Blunham……..Your Community Needs You!!

We have seen over recent months how caring & supportive the residents of Blunham are; it has been an amazing display of community spirit.

We now need to ask for more help.

Blunham Parish Council is in urgent need of members. We are currently carrying three vacancies, plus we have an impending maternity leave. This leaves our numbers precariously low.

If our membership falls too low, we will legally not be able to function. In such dire circumstances there is legal provision for Central Beds Council to provide their own Councillors to be our members. In extreme circumstances they can take over the running of the Parish Council.

Surely we don’t need to do that in Blunham – A village that is clearly vibrant & full of community spirited people?

Legally, you need to have lived within 3 miles of the Parish for the last 12 months. The bare minimum commitment is one meeting every other month (currently via Zoom). Ideally, we would obviously like more than the bare minimum – a group of members who are keen to get involved in village life, committed to keeping the village a safe & pleasant place to live, & able to “get stuck in”.

We would welcome anyone from any part of the Parish, but particularly the new homes as we do not have any members from the new homes at the moment. We would welcome your perspective as someone relatively new to the village.

It really can be rewarding. It is an opportunity to put your existing skills to good use, and even develop some new ones.

If you are interested in getting involved or maybe you just want a bit more information, please just get in touch.

What have you got to lose?
